PW Chamber's "YP Network" Had Good Time, for Good Cause
The latest happy hour of the Young Professionals Network of the Region’s Chamber, held at Madigan’s on the Waterfront, was a mix of business, pleasure AND good deeds. A food drive and happy hour, several bagfuls of nonperishable items were collected for the food bank at SERVE. Additionally, Mary Foley of Volunteer Prince William shared ideas for holiday volunteerism and helped YPs identify ways that they could get involved in the community. She noted that in this economy, some of the families that were donors last year are in need of services this year. “Every mom wants for her kids, what we want for ours,” said Mary. Programs she highlighted included:
· Operation Turkey: a holiday food drive and feeding of the hungry
· Un-Trim-A-Tree: Presents are collected and then distributed to children in need
· Gift Baskets for Seniors: Provides gifts to seniors who are alone for the holidays
· Resource Moms: Provides gifts and necessities to teenage mothers and their children

The evening was rounded off by great networking (thanks to Brandon Hall of Potomac Place for organizing the “Blackjack” networking game) and door prizes provided by:
· The Coqui Group
· Potomac Place Assisted Living
· The Potomac Nationals
In December the YP Network will act on the information from Mary, and participate in an outreach project. YP members…look for details in your inbox soon!
